PriceSmart Bolivar

The PriceSmart Store in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is a 10,700 sq. ft., one-story masonry and steel building with both surface and rooftop parking. This urban store is the first of its kind for PriceSmart, as it is smaller than traditional stores, due to the location, and features a rooftop parking deck covered in solar panels.
The steel braced frame building was designed to withstand heavy wind loads, produced by hurricane storms. The site proved to be a challenge as well, as the store is situated into the side of a hill with a steep grade. Retaining walls were designed and installed, to accommodate the grade. The project includes administrative areas, employee locker and break rooms, fresh foods, restaurant, commercial kitchen, bakery and coffee kiosk for the public.
Mour Group provided prime engineering and architectural services which included: Preliminary project coordination, due-diligence and site planning, programming, and construction documents. In addition, they provided construction administration services for the project, which included regular site visits to Santo Domingo, and meeting with the local entities to coordinate and present the documents in a timely fashion in order to obtain the required construction permits.
